Ecotourism Training Workshop in Koyna

WRCS conducted a one-day nature guide training workshop at Koynanagar on 25th July 2016, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Forest Department. This workshop was conducted under the Koyna project, which is being supported by KPIT and Maharashtra Foundation. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Anirudh Chaoji and his colleagues, Mr. Mrigank Save and Mr. Akash Hire, from Pugmarks holidays, Pune. Mr. Sunil Kale from WRCS coordinated with the local youths and organized the workshop. A total of 22 participants from 11 villages, mainly local youths, attended the workshop, along with six field staff of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The trainers explained the benefits of ecotourism for employment generation and conservation of wildlife and nature. Many other points such as nature skills, role of eco-development committees, role of nature guides, identification of birds, insects, and mammals was touched upon. Sessions were conducted on snake identification, plant significance in tourism, tourism guidelines, and home-stays. We thank the Forest Department (Sahyadri Tiger Reserve) for funding the workshop.
